Father Mychal (Through The Valley)
Though he walked through the valley,
His heart remained brave.
Though he walked through the valley,
His passion was to save.
And to show the world God’s love.
And to show the world God’s love.
And to show the higher love we’re all part of…
With mercy from above.
He walked streets full of humanity,
Out across the Brooklyn Bridge.
And he thought about life’s beauty,
In the city in which he lived.
And he gave himself to God.
And he gave himself to God.
And he asked to be an instrument of His Love…
With mercy from above.
And he walked through New York City
Where the winter winds hit hard.
And he looked into the eyes of
The lost souls we discard.
And held out the hand of hope.
And he wrapped them in his coat.
And he wrapped them in his coat, and in God’s love…
With mercy from above
And he walked through the hospitals,
Down quarantined corridors.
And he visited the dying in the HIV wards.
And so a soul returns.
And so a soul returns.
So a soul returns cradled in his arms…
To peace beyond all harm.
On the 11th of September
Father Mychal chose to stay.
As a sheppard watching over his flock for his firefighters he prayed.
And he gave himself away.
And he gave himself away.
And he gave his life that day there in the dust…
and he showed the world God’s love.
Though I walk through the valley
My heart will have no fear.
Though I walk through the valley
I know my Lord is near.
And the beauty of His love.
And the beauty of His love.
And the beauty of His love we’re all part of…
With mercy from above…
